NOTES
Handsome and lively. Very popular. Plays bass guitar in a
group. Part of his style is his motor cycle – a Harley-Davidson.
It's his pride and joy next to his guitar.
Victim of evening RTA. Cruising wearing open-face crash helmet.
Car driver on mobile runs into him. Bike falls onto him. Right
arm and hand crushed. Hand has to be amputated; jaw is pinned
and screwed to aid repair. He makes a good recovery, physically,
and his fitting for his artificial hand goes well.
During treatment and afterwards he becomes depressed. Two
things going on?
1: Sees little point in life – can’t do design,
can’t pay bass guitar.
2: Anger at driver – not caught.
Tom won’t talk about this. How to enable him to regain
his life?
RELEVANT FACTORS:
- Injury to his arm. Who is involved in this throughout
treatment?
- Injury to his jaw. Who is involved in this throughout
treatment? He will have difficulty eating and perhaps swallowing
early on.
- How might Tom be enabled to rebuild his creative life?
Think here of two main areas. One is his creative work –
design and music. The other is the anger he feels about
the accident.
